What is BWRT®?

BWRT® — Brain Working Recursive Therapy® — is a modern, neuroscience‑based approach that helps you change the way your brain responds to triggers, thoughts, and emotional patterns. It works by using the brain’s natural neuroplasticity: its ability to create new pathways and new responses.
Instead of being stuck with old reactions such as anxiety, fear, panic, or unhelpful habits, BWRT® helps you replace them with the calm, confident, and controlled responses you would prefer to have.
Created by UK therapist Terence Watts, BWRT® is practised only by Certified Practitioners who follow a strict ethical code.

Many clients value that BWRT® allows them to keep their personal story private. You’re free to share only what feels comfortable, and the process can still be highly effective without going into detail about past experiences.
All you need to know is:
• how you feel now
• how you would prefer to feel instead
BWRT® works with your internal experience — not the details of the past.

How Does BWRT® Work?

Your brain constantly scans for patterns. When it recognises one, it triggers a response from the oldest part of the brain — the reptilian complex (RC) — long before your conscious mind becomes aware of it.
Here’s what happens:
• The RC notices a familiar pattern of signals.
• It instantly triggers the same neural pathway that kept you “safe” in the past.
• This happens automatically, even if the response is no longer helpful.
• There’s a delay of around ⅓ of a second before you consciously realise what you’re feeling — which is why reactions like panic, fear, or overwhelm can feel so sudden.
BWRT® works within that tiny window of time, helping you replace the unwanted automatic response with a new, preferred one.
It’s fast, focused, and often surprisingly transformative.
