Most people experience the effects of stress from time to time. Our natural stress response originally helped our ancestors survive danger by preparing them to either fight or run away. In many ways that response still serves us today. A certain amount of stress can be helpful – it can keep us focused, motivated, or add excitement before an important event.
However, some life events are known to create very high levels of stress, and ongoing exposure to smaller everyday stresses can gradually build up over time. When this happens it can create a level of tension that begins to affect both our mental and physical wellbeing.
Anxiety is the feeling of apprehension or worry about something that may happen in the future. Like stress, a moderate level of anxiety is a normal part of life. But for some people those anxious feelings begin to take over and dominate their thoughts.
Anxiety can sometimes originate from an event or life experience in the past that the mind fears could happen again. In more severe cases anxiety can develop into panic attacks. Often people then begin to fear the panic attack itself returning, which can create a vicious cycle where the fear of the panic becomes part of the anxiety.
Many people come to see me because they feel trapped in a cycle of anxiety and overthinking and can’t seem to switch their mind off.
I work with clients at Hare Park Hypnotherapy to help break the cycle of anxiety and overthinking using approaches such as hypnotherapy and BWRT.
What Clients Say
“I came to Karen after allowing anxiety to run and ruin my adult life for around 30 years. After 6 sessions of highly effective and targeted BWRT, the results have been life changing and game changing for me. Wish I’d done it and come to Karen years ago but better late than never! Thank you so much Karen.”
“Having struggled with anxiety for most of my childhood and adult life, I am glad that Imade contact with Karen as she managed to provide much insight into how my priorexperiences have impacted my current psychosocial behaviour.I managed to address quite a few of these feelings of anxiety and lack of confidence aswell as phobias via the BWRT method: I feel positive going forward, having been equipped with some of these coping strategies. Obviously time will tell if it’s been adequately eradicated but I’m hopeful and will continue to work on it! Karen is extremely patient and thorough and I would highly recommend her!”
